This is an adventurous trek, which is physically demanding. It combines the beauty of the Gokyo lakes area, and its nearby mountain Gokyo Ri, with the excitement of trekking on The Everest Base camp trail and seeing the classic view of Everest from Kala Pattar.
The Cho La, at 5420m, is the name of the pass that links these two areas. In good weather, the crossing of Cho La requires no specialist equipment but does mean a very early start to your day! The views are simply amongst some of the best you will ever see in your life.
Being a circular walk this trek can be undertaken in a clockwise or anticlockwise direction depending upon your choice.

Cloud and turbulent weather are regular phenomena along the Himalaya range. It is therefore possible that domestic flights from Kathmandu to or from Lukla may have to be delayed for a few hours or even cancelled for a day or more.
Fortunately this does not happen very often during the high seasons of March to May or September to November, but you need to plan for this possibility.
As a safeguard, we recommend that you add on a couple of extra days after your trek, before you fly from Kathmandu to your onward destination.
