Trek Overview
The Classic Route to Everest
The Everest Base Camp trek is the most iconic trekking route in the world. Walk through Sherpa villages, ancient monasteries, and dramatic river valleys before reaching the foot of the world’s highest mountain.
Your journey takes you from the exhilarating Lukla flight through Namche Bazaar — the bustling capital of the Sherpa people — up to Everest Base Camp at 5,364m. Then climb Kala Pattar (5,545m) for the most breathtaking panoramic view of Everest you’ll ever see.

Day by Day
Your 12-Day Journey
Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport where you’ll be met by a member of the Inspire Trek team. Transfer to your hotel in Thamel, Kathmandu’s vibrant tourist district. Rest, explore, and prepare for the adventure ahead. Evening briefing with Tashi.
Early morning flight to Lukla — one of the world’s most thrilling landings. Begin your trek along the Dudh Kosi river valley through beautiful pine forests to the village of Phakding. A gentle start to acclimatise.
Cross suspension bridges and climb through rhododendron forests to Namche Bazaar, the bustling gateway to the Everest region and capital of the Sherpa people. Your first views of Everest appear on the final climb.
Essential rest day for altitude acclimatisation. Hike to the Everest View Hotel for stunning panoramic views, visit the Sherpa Museum, or explore Namche’s colourful market. Your guide will monitor how you’re adjusting to the altitude.
Trek to Tengboche, home to the famous Tengboche Monastery — the largest in the Khumbu region. The approach offers some of the most dramatic mountain scenery of the entire trek, with Ama Dablam towering above. Visit the monastery for evening prayers.
Continue climbing through alpine terrain past Pangboche village. The landscape opens up dramatically as you ascend above the tree line. Arrive in Dingboche, a picturesque settlement in a wide valley with views of Island Peak and Lhotse.
Pass the Dughla memorial cairns honouring fallen climbers, then continue along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier. The landscape is raw and powerful. Arrive at Lobuche, your final stop before Base Camp.
The day you’ve been dreaming of. Trek via Gorak Shep to Everest Base Camp at 5,364m. Stand where expeditions begin their summit attempts, surrounded by the Khumbu Icefall and the immense south face of Everest. An emotional, unforgettable moment. Return to Gorak Shep for the night.
Pre-dawn start to climb Kala Pattar (5,545m) for the most spectacular sunrise view of Everest. This is the moment — the panorama from the summit is breathtaking. Descend to Pheriche, celebrating with a well-earned rest at lower altitude.
Retrace your steps downhill through the Khumbu Valley. The descent is faster and you’ll notice details you missed on the way up. Celebrate your achievement over a drink in one of Namche’s cosy lodges.
Final day on the trail. Walk back through the familiar villages and forests to Lukla. Farewell dinner with your guides and porters — a chance to reflect on an incredible journey and say thank you to the team who made it possible.
Morning flight back to Kathmandu. Transfer to your hotel or the airport for your onward journey. You’ll leave Nepal with memories that will last a lifetime, new friendships, and a deep appreciation for the Sherpa people and their mountains.

Got Questions?
Common Questions
You don’t need to be an athlete, but a reasonable level of fitness is important. If you can walk 5-7 hours a day on hilly terrain, you’ll be fine. We recommend training 3-4 months before your trek with regular hiking, stair climbing, and cardio. The trek is graded Moderate to Hard — the altitude is the challenge, not the terrain.
Altitude sickness can affect anyone regardless of fitness. Our itinerary is carefully designed with acclimatisation days built in, and our experienced guides monitor you throughout. We carry medical kits and know the warning signs. Most trekkers experience mild symptoms (headache, tiredness) which pass with rest and hydration.
The best seasons are spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November). Spring offers warmer temperatures and rhododendron blooms. Autumn has the clearest skies and most stable weather. Both seasons offer excellent trekking conditions.
You can do either. We run private treks for solo travellers, couples, families, and small groups. The price is the same — £895pp. Tashi will tailor the experience to your needs and pace. Many of our trekkers come solo and leave with friends for life.
Teahouses are basic but comfortable mountain lodges run by local families. You’ll get a private room with a bed, pillow, and blankets. There’s a communal dining area with a stove where everyone gathers in the evening. Hot showers are available at most stops (for a small fee). It’s simple, warm, and part of the experience.
Simply chat with Tashi on WhatsApp to discuss dates and availability. To secure your spot, we ask for a £99 deposit. The balance is due 8 weeks before departure. Tashi will walk you through everything — no pressure, just a friendly conversation about your adventure.
Yes. Inspire Trek & Travel is a registered UK company (No. 12342368). Your deposit is held securely and we have a clear cancellation policy. We also recommend travel insurance that covers cancellation — Tashi can advise on this when you book.
